City Entertainment for Coastal Creatures

I arrived in Portland, Oregon late on a Friday night. After settling in, I went to my favorite restaurant in town, Salvador Molly’s. Dubbed “traditional pirate cuisine,” these eclectic dishes will please world travelers and landlubbers alike.  Something was different about this particular visit. I felt daring. For 10 years, Salvador Molly’s has made Great Balls of Fire, flaming hot habanero-cheese fritters that would make a grown man cry. I decided to start small with just one. After finishing just half, I felt victorious.

The next day, I had to hit the Saturday Market. Crafty ladies and gentlemen will fall in love with this specific attraction. Anybody can find excitement in watching live music acts and street performers. I also found myself psyched to see henna tattoos and palm readers. I decided to try my luck with the MAX as a method of transportation. This is an eco-friendly and inexpensive way to get around, but make sure you have a sense of direction. If not, you may end up lost and confused in North Portland. However, one perk of this is the colorful freaks you’ll encounter!

After reaching my desired destination, I walked a few blocks to find what I had been craving the entire day—the gem of the pastry world and the holy grail of sweets: Voodoo Doughnuts. If you’ve heard good things about Voodoo, they’re true. They provide sweet treats to tickle anybody’s fancy.  Find delight in maple bacon bars, pastries adorned with Cocoa Puffs and even vegan options!

Portland has my heart. City lights will inspire you in this cultural mecca with endless possibilities. Travel fiends rejoice!
